Duncan Ganley:
Inventory of Empty Streets
2024
During the first lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic, the image of the empty street became a familiar signifier, dominating news and social feeds alike. ‘Inventory of Empty Streets’ is artist Duncan Ganley’s exhaustive exploration of this idea. A photographic record of every street inside London’s Congestion Charge Zone during the first lockdown in the spring of 2020, the Inventory consists of more than 3000 images accompanied by GPS track data and official government statistics.
